Man's Search for Meaning book cover

Man's Search for Meaning

Viktor Frankl

This book chronicles Frankl’s experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, and describing logotherapy, which involves identifying a purpose in life to feel positive about, and then immersively imagining that outcome.  Meaning, according to Frankl, is found in three different forms. Meaning is found in creating or doing. Meaning is found in experiencing something greater than ourselves and in encountering another being through love. And finally, meaning can be found in the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering. Man is meant to suffer, it is only how we respond to the suffering which helps determine how we feel afterwards.

Wealth is our organized capability to cope effectively with the environment in sustaining our healthy regeneration and decreasing both the physical and metaphysical restrictions of the forward days of our lives.

Buckminster Fuller
